THE ARTWORK

-

Andy Warhol had, at the end of his life, contacts with the Neapolitan environment thanks to the meeting with the gallery owner Lucio Amelio. The Neapolitan gallerist had the merit, during his activity, to provide notable opportunities to the whole Italian art. At the beginning of the eighties, he succeeded in bringing Warhol to Naples, where he painted "Vesuvius", a "pop" reinterpretation of one of the most famous symbols of Naples. The image of the volcano was later replicated by Warhol with different colour tones and became one of his best-known series, part of a series of works created by the master of American Pop Art in 1985 on the occasion of the homonymous exhibition held at the Capodimonte Museum and organized by the gallerist Lucio Amelio.

This beautiful version is all played in shades of pink.
