New York Flat n°4 del 27/2/2008

Maurizio Galimberti offers us an overview of New York City, through the project Flat Iron , making a series of mosaics of Polaroid pictures of the famous Flatiron Building on 5th Ave, taken from different angles and perspectives. From these unique mosaics, he obtained five C-Type prints each one. This particular one is the edition No. 1/5 based on the original New York Flat No. 4 of 27/2/2008. This series of images represents Flatiron Building stands out in a blue sky with light clouds, in contrast with the dark tones of the buildings and the street. 

Digital C-Type printing by Maurizio Galimberti. The artwork is printed on transparent Plexiglass and is applied on an elegant metallic mirrored support, 3 cm wide. No frame needed. The print is archived with number 3434 and provided with certificate of authenticity supplied from the artist's archive. MAURIZIO GALIMBERTI

Maurizio Galimberti was born in 1956 in Como. He is a famous Italian artist and photographer. While he was very young, he developd a passion for photography and began to participate to severals contests.

At first he used the analogic photographic film, but then he switched to polaroids, so to immediately see the results of his photos, without waiting. In the early ‘90s, Galimberti left the family business in order to dedicate himself only to photography. In 1991 he started to collaborate with Polaroid, becoming an official Sponsor. In 1995 is published the book “Polaroid Pro Art”, and in 1997 his polaroid mosaics entered in the art collections.

The technique used by Galimberti has been influenced by Boccioniand Duchamp, and it consists in creating a collage of polaroids, each one portraying a different particular of the same represented image. The different polaroids are then brought close together to recreate the image into a collage.

He realized portraits of celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Robert de Niro and Johnny Depp. The turning point was when Galimberti met the collector Fumagalli, because it was thanks to him that the artist began to exhibit in international cities, like Venice, Berlin and New York, of which he created some beautiful portfolios.

The artwork is delicate and requires a custom-made wooden box to protect it during transportation. Delivery to EU countries takes 5-15 business days.

If you live in Europe (CEE) the price we show you already includes taxes. The works are taxed either with VAT exposed (22%) or VAT with the margin, if you are a private person you do not change anything, if you are a company: in In the first case, you will recover the VAT, in the second, no. When you put the works in the cart you will be separated from the vat exposed.

If you DON'T LIVE IN EU and you want an EXTRA EU shipping

Many works (not all) have an exposed VAT of 22% included in the price, this vat will be spun off! Obviously you will pay the VAT to your destination country, if due. For example if you live in Switzerland you save 22% but you will have to pay 8.1% to your customs, if you live in Hong Kong you will save 22% and you will not have to pay anything to your customs (lucky you).

If you complete the purchase on the site you can use a credit card, or you can make a bank transfer. Payment in cash is accepted up to 5,000 euros physically in one of our stores. Payments in BitCoin or cryptocurrencies are NOT accepted.
