THE ARTWORK

-

In this particular work the silhouette of three black knives intersect to form an X on a dark gray background. Warhol's works are a complex attempt to understand what are the objects and images that are part of everyday life or the imagination. Weapons in America are part of everyday life: this is why in Warhol's art there are also jars of soup next to electric guns and chairs, up to icons such as Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley.

The work was published to promote the exhibition "Andy Warhol: Guns, Knives, Crosses" at the Galeria Fernando Vijande, Madrid, Spain, where Warhol interpretations of guns, knives, and crosses were exhibited. On the right side the original signature of the artist.
