THE ARTWORK

-

Flowers for Andy Warhol have been the subject more followed during its career. It is believed that they express the most intimate part of the artist, the less exposed and perhaps also the more controversial one. The sceen printing "Flowers" have been realized for the first time in 1964 and they withdraw the image of some flowers of hibiscus taken by a photo of Patricia Caulfield, published in the magazine "Modern Photography" in the 1964. Warhol upset the concept of artworks' uniqueness creating works whose expressive force is exactly the repetitive subject. Starting by a photo of hibiscus flowers published on the magasine “Modern Photography” of 1964, Warhol reworked and repeated the image countless times (he made more than 900 works) until making it decorative.

In this case the reproduction is on a card with yellow, red and purple color tones on a green and black background
