Tomoko Nagao: Stencil Art on Canvas

Serial but special. This slogan contains the essence of the Stencil Art by Tomoko Nagao. This is the most well-known street art technique, that exceeding American graffities, guarantees high quality, becoming integral part of Tomoko's production.

Using stencil, that are engraved and elaborated grills, the artist paints her subjects, on wall and on canvas, with spray and mixed technique.

With this technique Tomoko Nagao realized some public art in Milan, like the "Energy-box", traffic light boxes placed around the city and decorated by top street artists.

Here then are the icons of Caravaggio's Basket of Fruit, conserved at the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan, and the detail of the worm-eaten apple, taken as an emblem of the innovative message of Naturalism by the same artist, next to Salomè, among the favourite icons of the great artists of all time, from Oscar Wildeto Tiziano, from Lucas Cranach to Bernardino Luini.

With this new series on paper, the artist wants to make his works more "affordable", meaning accessible to everyone, as artists such as Banksy and Shepard-Obey have already done.
